Our Company

When Dona Danziger opened Clay Werks Ltd. in 1991, there were no tile showrooms on Virginia's Eastern Shore and people had to drive a distance just for white grout. Having enjoyed a lifelong career in the arts, Dona was lured from Princeton, NJ to the Eastern Shore of Virginia by its open, green spaces and the enchanting Chesapeake Bay. Her sister, Diane Lange, living in the suburbs of Chicago, desired the same, so she and her family put their home up for sale and moved to the Eastern Shore sight unseen. Dona and Diane have enjoyed working together ever since and have literally transformed the Eastern Shore’s perception of tile. Their extensive knowledge, creativity and friendly service has made them a unique resource on the Shore.

Over the years the business has expanded in both its size and offerings. In 2006 Clay Werks Ltd. moved from Main St. to Rt. 13 after completing an extensive remodel on an existing building. Clay Werks Ltd. operates in several segments: new construction, remodeling, commercial and general retail to contractors and DIY’ers. With our wide price points, there is an extensive selection to fit every budget.

Our lead installer, Jeff Madson, originally from Bozeman, Montana has worked with tile and stone for over 35 years. His skill level has “raised the bar” locally and continually keeps abreast of new technology in the trade. Almost anyone can "lay tile" but only an experienced craftsman can insure that the job is done correctly and will last ( and look good!) for a lifetime.

Our Services

Clay Werks offers complementary design services to assist clients in creating their tile layout and guide them through Clay Werks wide selection of tile, wood or stone. Once the client has visited our showroom and selected materials, an appointment for a free estimate can be scheduled. A clearly written proposal is provided specifying materials to be used along with the design. To help clients visualize how their choices will look in their home, we provide samples to borrow and “live with.” Because so many of our clients live out of the area, samples can be shipped and proposals sent via email. New to our offerings are Custom Closets and tile/grout vapor steam cleaning.
